Rian is a female tiefling warlock. She is present at the First Council of Waterdeep but not as a member.
In the late 15th century DR, under orders from her masters, Rian approached the Council of Lords of Waterdeep and offered help against the rising menace of Tiamat and the Cult of the Dragon, for which she gained a seat at the Council. She officially acted as one of the advisers of Lord Dagult Neverember and most of the councilors chose to ignore her real loyalties. Rian approved of all plans to stop the Cult, even the most cruel, and was in favor of an alliance with Thay.
Rian was very interested in gaining control of Xonthal's Tower for the Zhentarim, and away from the adventuring band hired by the Council.
She is now the leader of the Zhentarim and one of the two attendees of the Council of Waterdeep who is still alive.
Laeral Silverhand, born Anamanué Silverhand and formerly known as the Witch-Queen of the North and later the Lady Mage of Waterdeep, was one of the Seven Sisters, a Chosen of Mystra, and the Open Lord of Waterdeep during the late 15th century DR. Together with her partner Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, they led the Moonstars, a dissident faction of the Harpers, which sought to guide the cities and countries of the North toward a shared destiny.
She was the ruler of Waterdeep and Neverwinter when Tiamat won the battle at the Well of Dragons and is now the only surviving leader of the Lords Alliance.
The characters met Bua-Ku when repaying a debt to Nine-Fingers Keene in Baldur's Gate. She travelled with them on the caravan from Baldur's Gate to Waterdeep when following the Cult of the Dragon. She and Irediana were the victims of an assassination attempt during this time.
After they parted in Waterdeep, Bua-Ku joined the Zhentarim as a liason for the guild, and quickly rose in rank. At the time of Tiamat's victory she was part of a group establishing an outpost on the shores of the Darklake.
Buppido was a male derro who was a prisoner of the drown. He was brought with to be a guide to the duergar city of Gracklstaugh, but tried to murder Rask and was killed by Kalidor.
The aquatic hermit is a calm and peaceful presence. He is aware of his people's well-deserved reputation for madness, and claims to have spent a lifetime in contemplation and solitary meditation to overcome that legacy. He appears to have been successful, exuding an aura of enlightened balance.
Shuushar is familiar with Sloobludop, the kuo-toa town near the Darklake, and has navigated the twisting routes of the Darklake for many years.
Stool is a myconid sprout. Stool is lonely, wanting only to return to its home in Neverlight Grove.
He has taken a liking to Irediana.
A male drow mage, who was not deemed to not be trustworth, especially after they stole his spellbook. His faith is unknown.
Jimjar is a feckless rogue with a devil-may-care attitude, a fondness for coin, and an obsession with betting on virtually anything and everything.
He can guide the party to Blingdenstone from the north route out of Velkynvelve, although he is fine with visiting other interesting places along the way, as well as taking Stool back to its home.
